Description / INDIAN SILK RUG 123*187 KASHMIR
The manufacturing of silk carpets spread from Iran to India in the 16th century, hindus continued to use persian patterns. India's most famous carpet manufacturing area is historically Kashmir. Therefore, the expression "Kashmir carpets" which is commonly used, stands for a wool or silk rug with oriental pattern.
Since the separation of Pakistan and India there is a conflict about the territory of Kashmir, which does not benefit either tourism or carpet production. Expensive silk rugs are still handknotted in a small number of villages.
